Password Generator

Create a strong, random password. Nothing leaves your browser.

Strength: –

Passwords are generated on your device with your browsers secure random generator. They are never sent to a server or stored.

What Makes a Strong Password?

A strong password is long, random and unique. Length matters most: every extra character makes guessing far harder. Variety helps too, because mixing uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols increases the number of possible combinations. Randomness is just as important as length and variety. A password based on a name, a date or a common phrase is much easier to guess, even if it looks complicated.

The other rule is uniqueness. Using the same password on several sites means one leak can expose many accounts. A password manager can store a different random password for each site, so you only need to remember one strong master password. This generator helps you create those unique passwords quickly, without inventing them yourself.

How to Use the Password Generator

  • Set the length. Drag the slider to choose from 8 to 64 characters. Sixteen is a good starting point, and longer is stronger.
  • Choose character types. Tick uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols as needed. Some sites do not allow symbols, so you can turn them off for those accounts.
  • Click Generate password. A new random password appears in the read-only output field, with a strength label based on length and variety.
  • Copy it. Press Copy, then paste the password into your account or password manager. Generate again if you want a different one.
  • Store it safely. Save the password in a password manager rather than in a plain text file, an email or a note on your desk.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Truly random. Passwords use your browsers secure random generator, window.crypto.getRandomValues, not a predictable pattern.
  • Flexible length. Choose any length from 8 to 64 characters with a simple slider.
  • Full character control. Include or exclude uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols to suit each sites rules.
  • Instant strength label. See at a glance whether a password is weak, fair, strong or very strong.
  • One-click copy. Copy the result without selecting it by hand.
  • Private by design. Generated passwords are never uploaded, stored or logged by this site.
  • Free and unlimited. Generate as many passwords as you need, with no signup.

Worked Examples

Example 1 – A strong everyday password. With a length of 16 and all four character types selected, you might get something like a random mix of letters, numbers and symbols that is far harder to guess than a word with a number at the end. The strength label should read Strong or Very strong.

Example 2 – A site that bans symbols. If a website rejects symbols, turn symbols off and set the length to 20 or more. A longer letters-and-numbers password can still be very strong, because length adds many more combinations than a short password with symbols.

Example 3 – A short code. For a temporary PIN-style code, set the length to 8 and select numbers only. The result will be an 8-digit random number. This is fine for a short-lived code, but it is not a substitute for a long, unique password for an important account.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long should a password be?

At least 16 characters is a good minimum for important accounts, and longer is better where a site allows it. This generator supports up to 64 characters, which gives a very large number of possible combinations.

Are the generated passwords stored anywhere?

No. Passwords are created in your browser and are not sent to a server, saved in a database or logged. Once you leave the page, the generated password is gone unless you have saved it yourself.

Should I reuse a generated password?

No. Generate a different password for each account. Reuse means a single leak can affect many accounts, even if each password is strong on its own.

What if a site does not accept symbols?

Turn symbols off and increase the length instead. A 20-character password using only letters and numbers is still strong, and it will meet stricter site rules.

Is a random password better than a memorable phrase?

For most accounts, yes, especially when you use a password manager. A long random password has no pattern for an attacker to guess, while a phrase based on real words can be attacked with word lists.

Good password habits go beyond one strong password. Use two-factor authentication where it is offered, keep your password manager locked with a strong master password, and change a password promptly if you hear that a service you use has had a data breach.
